BOURBON — Culver Community used a fast start and a big fifth inning to defeat Triton 16-1 in five innings Monday night. Culver scored three runs in the first inning, three more in the second and added one in the third before breaking the game open with a nine-run fifth inning. Triton scored its lone run in the bottom of the second. The Lady Trojans finished with three hits. Lexi Kaufman, Kyrstin Aldefer and Eleanor Hernandez each collected a hit for Triton. Hernandez drove in Triton’s run in the second inning. Culver Community was led by Abigayle Zehner, who went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs. Brooke Davis added two hits and an RBI, while Aiden Molebash had a hit, two RBIs and earned the win in the circle. Molebash threw all five innings for Culver, allowing three hits and one unearned run while striking out 11 and walking none. Hernandez started in the circle for Triton and worked two innings, allowing three hits while striking out two. Aldefer pitched the final three innings. Culver Community finished with eight hits, while Triton had three. The Lady Trojans will look to bounce back in their next contest.
