BOURBON — Knox used a pair of big middle innings Wednesday night to hand Triton an 18-1 loss in varsity softball action. The Redskins jumped out early with two runs in the first inning and added four more in the second to build a 6-0 lead. Triton got on the board in the bottom of the third, but Knox answered with five runs in the third and seven more in the fourth to pull away. Triton finished with three hits in the game. Jada Bules, Kaitlyn Frick and Jillian Bules each recorded hits for the Lady Trojans. Clara Doll scored Triton’s lone run, while Jillian Bules drove in the run. Knox was led offensively by Madalee Hinshaw, who went 3-for-3 with two home runs, three runs scored and three RBIs. Cheryl Barnes added two doubles and drove in six runs, while Elise Wolff had two hits and five RBIs. Haylee Miller added two hits, two runs and an RBI, and Ava Jensen had two hits and an RBI. Eleanor Hernandez, Makenzie Singleton and Kaitlyn Frick all saw time in the circle for Triton. Frick threw a scoreless fifth inning and struck out one. Da’Miya Sherrod was credited with the win for Knox, while Frick took the loss for Triton.
