WABASH — The Triton girls track and field team made program history Friday night, capturing their first-ever Apache Invitational championship with a dominant team score of 134 points at Wabash High School. The Trojans outpaced Maconaquah (95), Wabash (73), Elwood (23), and Indiana Math & Science (2) in a complete team effort that featured wins across distance, hurdles, relays, and field events. The historic night was highlighted by senior Rilee Bemish, who broke the Triton school record in the pole vault with a clearance of 9 feet, 3 inches. Bemish surpassed the previous record of 9-0, which she previously shared with MaKenna May, to become the new record holder while also winning the event. Triton’s distance crew played a major role in the team title, led by Evelyn Gephart, who was a double winner on the night.
