ROYAL CENTER — Triton's Varsity used big innings in the middle and late stages of the game to earn a 12-5 road win over Pioneer on Monday night. Triton scored three runs in the second inning, added four more in the fourth, then pulled away for good with single runs in the fifth and sixth before tacking on three insurance runs in the seventh. Pioneer scored twice in the third and added three runs in the fifth, but the Panthers were held scoreless over the final two innings. Triton finished with nine hits and took advantage of six Pioneer errors in the win. Drew Bingamon led the Triton offense, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Trey Tarlton scored three times and stole two bases. Max Johnson drove in three runs, and Maddox Dennie, Blake Ousley, Owen Holbrook and Levi McFarland each added an RBI. Braxton Kaufman earned the win, striking out eight over five innings, and Bingamon closed the door with two hitless innings and four strikeouts in relief. Pioneer got hits from Jayson Layman, Lane Weldy and Gabe Scott, with Weldy driving in two runs and Layman adding another RBI in the loss.
