What a season it has been for the Triton High School Lady Trojans wrestling team. Just 15 months ago, not a single athlete on the roster had ever stepped onto a wrestling mat. Fast forward to the program’s second season, and the Lady Trojans have firmly established themselves as a competitive and respected force in Indiana girls wrestling. This season, the Lady Trojans earned HNAC Conference Champion honors for the second consecutive year, with more athletes winning individual conference titles than ever before. Nearly the entire team advanced through sectionals to qualify for Regionals, a testament to their rapid development and commitment to the sport. Despite regularly competing against larger schools with far more experience, Triton consistently held its own throughout the season. The Lady Trojans finished third at Sectionals, trailing only Penn (1st) and Plymouth (2nd). At Regionals, the strength of Triton’s sectional became evident. Penn advanced just one of its 11 wrestlers to State, while Plymouth advanced only two of its 10 competitors—highlighting just how competitive and demanding the Regional field truly was. Triton brought seven wrestlers to Regionals and, while none advanced to State, the team faced some of the top-ranked programs in Indiana and competed with pride and determination. For a small 1A school, the Lady Trojans’ performance throughout the season stands as an impressive achievement and a sign of a program on the rise. “This season has been incredibly special,” said a member of the coaching staff. “Watching these girls grow—not just as wrestlers, but as teammates and competitors—has been a true pleasure.” Much of the program’s success is credited to Head Coach Jason Arvesen, whose dedication and leadership have been instrumental in the team’s rapid progress. In a short period of time, he has built a strong foundation, taught essential skills, and fostered a culture of hard work and confidence. While the season has come to an end, the future of Triton girls wrestling is bright. With continued commitment and passion, the Lady Trojans are poised for many more successful seasons to come. Little 1A Triton has plenty to be proud of—this was just the beginning.
