Thursday, November 20, 2025 PLYMOUTH, Ind. — In a gritty, low-scoring showdown at The Rock, the Triton Varsity Girls pulled out a 35–33 victory over Plymouth, surviving a furious fourth-quarter comeback. Triton controlled the early tempo, jumping out to a 10–2 lead after the first quarter behind strong inside play and active defense. Junior forward Avery Viers led the Trojans with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, providing the most reliable offense on a night where both teams struggled to convert. Savannah Hawley anchored the defensive end with eight rebounds and three blocks, helping Triton maintain control inside. Plymouth’s Lydia Wray kept the Pilgrims in the game, scoring 14 points and knocking down the team’s only early three. In the fourth quarter, Plymouth surged with a 14-point frame—its best of the night—cutting the deficit to one possession several times. Ella Davis added critical second-chance opportunities with five offensive boards. Despite Plymouth’s late push, turnovers proved costly for the home team, as Triton forced 23 miscues and held firm defensively in the final minute. Triton finished the night shooting 3-for-7 from deep, including a timely second-half three from Mylie Groves, helping the Trojans stay just ahead during Plymouth’s run. Triton will take its 2–1 record to Wawasee's Hardwood Teepee on Saturday. After entering the final period with only a three-point lead, Plymouth closed the game on a powerful 14–4 run to secure the win. Triton stayed competitive behind Addalyn Bailey, who scored a game-high 12 points while adding five rebounds and a block. Avery Faulkner anchored the team on the glass with 12 rebounds, while also collecting four steals. But despite generating 33 total rebounds, Triton struggled to convert offensively, shooting 9-for-47 (19.1%) from the field and 1-for-6 from three. Plymouth countered with balanced scoring, led by Hanley Feldman with 10 points and six rebounds, and Brooklyn Scruggs with seven points and three steals. The Pilgrims capitalized on Triton’s mistakes, scoring 13 points off turnovers compared to Triton’s six. Bench depth also proved crucial, as Plymouth’s reserves contributed 11 points, while Triton’s added just two. Triton trailed 14–11 at halftime and tightened the gap in the third quarter, but Plymouth’s aggressive defense and transition scoring proved too much down the stretch. Triton will look to regroup heading into their next matchup on Saturday at Wawasee.
