BOYS TENNIS @ SHELBY COUNTY TOURNAMENT (9/13)

TC BOYS TENNIS FINISH AS RUNNER-UP AT SHELBY COUNTY TOURNAMENT. The Triton Central boys tennis team advanced to the championship match of the Shelby County Tournament on Saturday at Waldron, defeating Morristown in the semifinals before falling to the host Mohawks in a tight final. In the semifinal, the Tigers swept Morristown 5-0. At singles, Janssen Capps rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1, while Brayden Hoover fought through a second-set tiebreaker at No. 2 to win 6-0, 7-6 (2). Bradyn Robinson closed out the sweep in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3. In doubles play, the duo of Caleb McGuire and Max Crouse won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, while Drayton Kermode and Graham Gast held on for a 7-5, 6-2 decision at No. 2. The championship came down to the wire, with Waldron edging Triton Central 3-2. Capps continued his strong play at No. 1 singles, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 victory, and Hoover followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2. Waldron answered by winning at No. 3 singles and both doubles spots. At No. 1 doubles, McGuire and Crouse won the opening set before falling 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. At No. 2 doubles, Gast and Kermode forced a third set but dropped a close 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 match. With the runner-up finish, Triton Central moves to 8-5 on the season. The Tigers return to action tonight at Covenant Christian, with first serve scheduled for 4:30 PM.
