TC BOYS TENNIS BEAT MORRISTOWN, FALLS TO WALDRON IN COUNTY FINAL. Triton Central boys tennis put together a strong showing at Saturday's Shelby County Tournament, advancing to the championship match before finishing as the tournament runner-up. The Tigers opened the day with a dominant 5-0 semifinal victory over Morristown before falling to Waldron, 4-1, in the championship match. With the day's results, Triton Central moves to 9-5 on the season. Tigers Sweep Morristown in Semifinal Triton Central left little doubt in its semifinal matchup with Morristown, sweeping all five courts. At No. 1 singles, Brayden Hoover defeated Eli Graves, 6-1, 6-1. Bradyn Robinson was equally dominant at No. 2 singles, cruising past Mitchell Ronan, 6-0, 6-1. Drayton Kermode completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Gage Frey at No. 3 singles. The Tigers also took both doubles matches. Cash Eck and Graham Gast defeated Ruston Kleine and Braxton Lenning, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Colton Ayres and Brylon Scott earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Arik Trattner and Ethan Tryon. The 5-0 victory sent TC into the tournament championship against Waldron. Waldron Takes Championship Match Waldron captured the Shelby County Tournament championship with a 4-1 victory over Triton Central. The Tigers' lone win came at No. 3 singles, where Kermode battled back after dropping a tight opening set to defeat Noah Leap, 6-7(4), 6-0, 10-7. Waldron earned the other four points. At No. 1 singles, Charlie Fischer defeated Hoover, 7-6(6), 6-0, while Lincoln Fischer defeated Robinson, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 2 singles. Waldron also swept both doubles matches. Jackson Kuhn and Caige Scheaffer defeated Gast and Eck, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles, while Wyatt Armstrong and Owen Hartman defeated Ayres and Scott, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles. Triton Central will now turn its attention to JV competition. The Tigers' JV team will host Edinburgh on Monday at 4:30 PM.
