TC FOOTBALL BEATS BEECH GROVE ON HOMECOMING. The Triton Central Tigers picked up a big Hoosier Legends Conference victory Friday night, knocking off previously unbeaten Beech Grove 14-7 at home. The win moves Triton Central to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in HLC play, while Beech Grove falls to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. After a scoreless first quarter, Triton Central broke through in the second when Matthew Wilkins connected with Henry Kemper on an 18-yard touchdown pass. Evan Mitchell added the extra point to give the Tigers a 7-0 advantage. The TC defense continued to hold Beech Grove in check through the first three quarters, allowing the Tigers to carry their 7-0 lead into the fourth. Triton Central added to its advantage early in the fourth quarter when Wilkins found Landon Ball for a 26-yard touchdown. Mitchell's extra point made it 14-0 in favor of the Tigers. Beech Grove answered with a touchdown later in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers' defense held strong the rest of the way to secure the 14-7 victory. Wilkins finished the night 12-of-27 passing for 189 yards and two touchdowns, with Kemper serving as his top target. Kemper hauled in seven receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown, while Dylan Showalter added four catches for 45 yards. Ball's lone reception went for 26 yards and a touchdown. The Tigers' defense put together another strong performance, limiting Beech Grove to 217 total yards, including 92 rushing yards. TC also forced two turnovers, including an interception by Ty Bergman. Bergman led the Tigers defensively with 12 tackles and four assists, along with his interception. Weston Smith added nine tackles and three assists, while Luke Strong recorded four tackles and three assists. The Tigers now turn their attention to another HLC matchup next Friday. Triton Central will travel to take on Shelbyville Friday night. The Golden Bears enter the matchup with a 2-2 overall record and an 0-2 mark in HLC play. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM. JV Tigers Fall at Beech Grove The Triton Central JV football team battled on the road Saturday but fell to Beech Grove 22-18, dropping the JV Tigers to 1-3 on the season. The JV Tigers will return home next Saturday when they host Shelbyville. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 AM.
