TC ROLLS PAST SCECINA, 30-3. After a heartbreaking overtime loss to Batesville in its season opener, Triton Central responded in dominant fashion Friday night, rolling past Scecina Memorial 30-3 at home. The Tigers overcame an early Scecina field goal and then controlled the game on both sides of the ball, scoring 30 unanswered points to earn their first victory of the season. Scecina struck first with a 28-yard field goal in the opening quarter, but Triton Central quickly answered in the second. Landon Ball broke free for a 23-yard touchdown run to give TC a 7-3 lead. The Tigers' defense then came up with a safety, pushing the advantage to 9-3. Henry Kemper added a 2-yard touchdown run before halftime, sending TC into the locker room with a 16-3 lead. The Tigers continued to pull away after halftime. In the third quarter, Matthew Wilkins connected with Kemper on an 18-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 23-3. Kemper found the end zone once again in the fourth quarter, scoring on a 3-yard run to complete the scoring and give TC the 30-3 victory. Triton Central finished with 384 total yards, including 199 passing yards and 185 rushing yards. The Tigers also picked up 18 first downs and converted 6-of-11 third-down opportunities. Wilkins completed 11-of-25 passes for 199 yards and one touchdown, with a long completion of 52 yards. Ball powered the rushing attack with 22 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown, while Kemper scored twice on the ground. Kemper was also TC's leading receiver, hauling in six passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. Dylan Showalter added three receptions for 75 yards, including a 52-yard reception, while Ball caught one pass for 34 yards. The Tigers' defense was equally impressive, limiting Scecina to just 239 total yards and 42 rushing yards while forcing three turnovers. Ty Bergman led TC with six tackles, three assists and an interception. Dallas Clarke recorded six tackles, two assists, a sack and two tackles for loss, while Knox Coen also intercepted a Scecina pass. The win moves Triton Central to 1-1 on the season and gives the Tigers momentum heading into Hoosier Legends Conference play. TC will open HLC play Friday night at Speedway. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM. JV Tigers Fall at Indian Creek The Triton Central JV football team battled on the road Saturday but came up just short against Indian Creek, falling 30-26. The loss drops the JV Tigers to 0-2 on the season. The JV Tigers will return home next Saturday when they host Speedway. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 AM.
