TC BOYS TENNIS SPLIT TWO MATCHES AT CONNERSVILLE INVITE. Triton Central boys tennis traveled to the Connersville Invitational on Saturday, splitting a pair of matches against Hagerstown and the host Connersville Spartans. The Tigers opened the day with a 4-1 victory over Hagerstown before falling to Connersville, 4-1, in their second match. With the split, Triton Central moves to 4-1 on the season. Tigers Defeat Hagerstown 4-1 Triton Central got off to a strong start against Hagerstown, winning four of the five matches. At No. 1 singles, Hagerstown's Alex Tinkle defeated Brayden Hoover, 6-1, 6-0. The Tigers responded with dominant victories at the next two singles positions. Bradyn Robinson shut out Braylin Tinkle, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, while Drayton Kermode defeated Hayden White, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 singles. The Tigers also swept both doubles matches. Graham Gast and Colton Ayres defeated Collin Werking and Dawson Brown, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Cash Eck and Owen Rice cruised past Owen Williams and Carter Sullivan, 6-2, 6-2, giving TC the 4-1 team victory. Connersville Edges Tigers 4-1 The host Spartans handed Triton Central its first loss of the season in the second match, earning a 4-1 victory. Connersville's Anthony Struewing defeated Hoover, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while Jay McMullen defeated Robinson in a three-set battle at No. 2 singles, 5-7, 6-2, 10-4. Kermode provided the Tigers' lone point against Connersville in an exciting match at No. 3 singles. Kermode battled past Abel Parsley, winning a tight super-tiebreaker, 7-6(1), 3-6, 11-9. Connersville took both doubles matches, with Evan Miller and Grady Stephens defeating Ayres and Gast, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Angelo Amora and Eli Laughlin defeated Rice and Eck, 6-1, 6-4. Despite the loss to Connersville, the Tigers leave the invitational with a 4-1 record and plenty of momentum heading into another Hoosier Legends Conference matchup. Triton Central will return home Wednesday to host Beech Grove. The HLC matchup is scheduled to begin at 5 PM.
