VOLLEYBALL VS. GREENSBURG (8/20)

TC VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO GREENSBURG IN FIVE-SET BATTLE. The Triton Central volleyball team battled back from an early deficit Thursday night but ultimately fell to Greensburg 3-2 on the road in a competitive five-set match. Greensburg controlled the opening two sets, winning 25-11 and 25-16 to take a 2-0 lead. The Tigers responded with a strong third set, earning a 25-17 victory before continuing their comeback with a 25-21 win in the fourth set to force a decisive fifth set. In the fifth, Greensburg held on for a 15-11 victory to claim the match 3-2. Lucy May led the Tigers offensively with 15 kills, while Addy Gibbs added nine kills. Savanna Plew and Ashlyn Hittle each contributed six kills, and Anna Kemper finished with 34 assists. Alaina Darlage added four aces. Despite the loss, Triton Central showed plenty of fight after dropping the first two sets, winning back-to-back sets to force a deciding fifth. The varsity Tigers are now 2-1 on the season. The TC JV squad also battled Greensburg on Thursday, ultimately falling 2-1. Greensburg took the opening set 25-17, but the Tigers answered with a 25-23 victory in the second set to even the match. Greensburg then secured the third set 15-8 to take the 2-1 victory. Addy Wright led the JV Tigers with 14 digs and two aces. Maecy Cord recorded three kills, while Brenli Reguli added two kills. Ryn West and Kenzie Hoover each contributed two blocks. The JV Tigers are now 2-1 on the season. Triton Central will have a quick turnaround, returning to action Saturday at the Covenant Christian Invite. Play is scheduled to begin at 9 AM.
