TC BASEBALL FALLS TO TRI-WEST IN CONFERENCE OPENER. Triton Central dropped its Hoosier Legends Conference opener Tuesday night, falling 9-3 to Tri-West. After two scoreless innings to start the game, Tri-West broke through in the third with a pair of runs and continued to build its lead throughout the middle innings. The Bruins added two more in the fourth and a decisive four-run fifth inning to take control. Triton Central answered with a run in the third and pushed across two late runs in the seventh, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Offensively, the Tigers finished with six hits on the night. Ty Bergman led the way, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Bo West, Kail Slaughter, and Andrew Berry each added a hit, while West and Rylan Anderson also drove in runs. On the mound, Janssen Capps got the start, tossing 4.1 innings and striking out eight, but allowed five runs, four of them earned. Rylan Anderson provided relief, working 2.2 innings and allowing four runs (one earned) while striking out one. Defensively, Triton Central committed three errors, while Tri-West finished with two. The Bruins capitalized on opportunities and used timely hitting, including four doubles, to generate offense throughout the game. With the loss, Triton Central falls to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in Hoosier Legends Conference play. In JV baseball action, Triton Central fell on the road to Tri-West with a 14-4. TC JV opens the season 0-1. The Tigers will look to bounce back quickly as they travel to Tri-West on Wednesday night for a 6:00 PM first pitch.
