TC BASEBALL DROPS SEASON OPENER TO GREENWOOD. Triton Central opened its 2026 season Saturday morning with a tough 13-6 loss to Greenwood in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. The second game was ultimately canceled due to weather. The Tigers got off to a strong start, plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. However, Greenwood responded in a big way in the second, erupting for five runs to swing momentum and take control of the game. Greenwood continued to apply pressure offensively, adding two more runs in the third, three in the fifth, and three in the seventh to finish with 13 runs on 12 hits. Triton Central battled throughout, scoring two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh, but couldn’t close the gap. Offensively, the Tigers were limited to just four hits on the day. Brayden Hoover led the way with a hit and an RBI, while Bo West added a hit and drove in a run. Kail Slaughter and Luke Strong each contributed a hit as well. Triton Central showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks, but struggled to generate consistent offense in key moments. On the mound, Brayden Hoover started and worked two innings, giving up five runs (two earned). Nash Durbin followed with three innings, allowing six runs (four earned) while striking out two, and Cooper Alford closed out the game with two innings of relief. Defensively, the Tigers committed two errors, while Greenwood finished with one. With the loss, Triton Central falls to 0-1 on the season. The Tigers will look to bounce back on Tuesday night, as the varsity team hosts Tri-West in a Hoosier Legends Conference showdown with a 6:00 PM first pitch. The junior varsity squad will open its season on the road at Tri-West, also starting at 6:00 PM.
