BOYS BASKETBALL VS. CARDINAL RITTER @ IHSAA REGIONAL (3/14)

TC BOYS BASKETBALL WINS REGIONAL, ADVANCES TO SEMI-STATE. Triton Central added another historic milestone to its remarkable season Saturday night, defeating Cardinal Ritter 57-51 to win the IHSAA Regional championship at Greenfield-Central High School. The victory gives the Tigers their second regional title in program history and first since the 1988-89 season. Triton Central improves to 23-3 overall and continues its postseason run. Saturday’s contest was tightly contested from start to finish. The teams battled to a 15-15 tie after the first quarter before Triton Central edged ahead 27-26 at halftime. Cardinal Ritter briefly seized momentum in the third quarter, taking a narrow 37-36 lead into the final period. The Tigers responded with a strong fourth quarter, outscoring Ritter 21-14 down the stretch to secure the six-point victory and the regional trophy. Senior Eli Sego delivered another standout performance, pouring in 30 points to lead all scorers. Jackson Faust added 12 points, while Henry Kemper contributed 10 in a balanced effort. Grant Long chipped in three points, and Conner McClure added two to round out the scoring as Triton Central made key plays on both ends in the closing minutes. The win sends the Tigers to the IHSAA Semi-State, where they will face Park Heritage on Saturday at Southport High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 AM. If Triton Central advances, it will play the winner of the Austin vs. Linton-Stockton game at 8 PM Saturday for a chance to earn a berth in the IHSAA Class 2A State Finals.
