TC TRACK & FIELD POSTS STRONG PERFORMANCES AT FIRST INDOOR MEET. Triton Central’s indoor track and field teams competed against a strong field Saturday afternoon at Anderson University in a large meet hosted by Hamilton Southeastern High School. The meet featured 18 schools from across the state, including Leo, Heritage Christian, Hamilton Southeastern, Waldron, Connersville, Shenandoah, Richmond, Eastern Hancock, Jeffersonville, Franklin County, South Decatur, Elwood, Pendleton Heights, Blackford, Knightstown, Park Tudor, Union County, and Triton Central. Athletes across the state are competing for spots in the Indoor State Championships on March 28, where the top 24 individuals and relay teams from qualifying meets will advance. Girls Highlights Triton Central’s girls 4x200 relay team of Ryn West, Farah Coen, Aubrie Propp, and Layla Compton turned in a strong performance, finishing eighth overall with a time of 1:55.00. The mark currently places the Tigers 15th in the small school rankings as they work toward qualifying for the indoor state meet. Compton also had a strong showing in the 60-meter dash, running a time of 8.38 to place ninth overall. Her performance currently has her sitting in 21st place on the small school indoor state qualifying list. Boys Highlights On the boys side, Nick Tormoehlen delivered a solid performance in the long jump, placing sixth with a leap of 18 feet, 5 inches. His jump currently ranks him 23rd in the small school standings for indoor state qualification. The boys 4x200 relay team of Zeke Robertson, David Gorth, Braden Brown, and Landon Slone had one of the top performances of the day, finishing second overall with a time of 1:36.51. The strong showing currently places the relay eighth in the small school rankings as they pursue a berth in the Indoor State Championships. With several qualifying meets still remaining across the state, Triton Central athletes will continue to look to improve their marks and solidify spots in the March 28 Indoor State Championships.
