TC BOYS BASKETBALL CLAIMS BACK-TO-BACK SECTIONAL TITLES, SETS PROGRAM WINS RECORD. Triton Central added another historic chapter to its season Saturday night, defeating Scecina 44-39 to capture the IHSAA Sectional #43 championship at Eastern Hancock. The title marks back-to-back sectional championships for the Tigers and pushes their record to 22-3 on the season. The victory also sets a new program record for wins in a single season, breaking the previous mark of 21 wins shared by the 1964-65, 1996-97, and 2014-15 Triton Central teams. Saturday’s championship game was a defensive battle throughout. Scecina held a narrow 11-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Triton Central responded in the second period to take a slim 19-18 advantage into halftime. The Tigers continued to grind on both ends of the floor in the third quarter, extending their lead to 27-23 heading into the final period. In the fourth quarter, Triton Central made key plays down the stretch and converted at the free-throw line to secure the five-point victory and the sectional crown. Eli Sego led the Tigers with 12 points, while Henry Kemper added 10 in another strong postseason performance. Jackson Faust and Brayden Hoover each scored seven points, and Grant Long contributed six. Conner McClure added two points to round out the scoring. The championship continues what has been a remarkable season for Triton Central, highlighted by a conference title, multiple individual milestones, and now a second straight sectional trophy. The Tigers now advance to the IHSAA Regional and will face Cardinal Ritter in the regional championship Saturday at Greenfield-Central. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM. Triton Central will be seeking the program’s second regional title, with the only previous championship coming during the 1988-89 season.
