TC BOYS BASKETBALL BEATS SPEEDWAY, WINS HLC OUTRIGHT. In front of a packed Senior Night crowd, Triton Central delivered a thrilling finish Friday night, holding off Speedway 53-52 to secure the inaugural Hoosier Legends Conference championship. With the win, the Tigers improve to 19-3 overall and finish a perfect 5-0 in conference play. Triton Central came out strong, building a 17-11 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers maintained a slim 28-26 advantage at halftime, but Speedway responded in the third quarter to take a 41-40 lead heading into the final period. The fourth quarter proved to be a battle, with both teams trading key baskets down the stretch. Behind timely execution and clutch defense in the closing moments, TC preserved the one-point victory to seal the conference crown. Eli Sego once again led the Tigers with 26 points. Grant Long and Brody Hartman each added eight points, while Chace Calderone contributed three. Jackson Faust, Henry Kemper, Conner McClure, and Brayden Hoover each chipped in two points in the balanced effort. The championship marks Triton Central’s first conference title in boys basketball since winning the Mid-Hoosier Conference in 2009, making the Hoosier Legends Conference crown a historic milestone for the program. JV Tigers Close Season with Win The junior varsity squad also celebrated Friday night, defeating Speedway 51-31 to close out its season at 15-6. Triton Central built a 14-9 lead after the first quarter and extended the margin to 24-17 at halftime. The Tigers continued to pull away in the second half, leading 35-22 after three before securing the 20-point win. Landon Bailey led the JV effort with 21 points, while Owen Hornberger added 11. Dylan Showalter scored six points, Dominic Moore had five, Conner Eubanks contributed four, and Julius Schlottmann and Chace Calderone each added two. Up Next Triton Central now turns its focus to postseason play. The Tigers will open IHSAA Sectional #43 action Wednesday night at Eastern Hancock, facing the host Royals at 7:30 p.m.
