TC BOYS BASKETBALL OPENS UP HLC PLAY WITH WIN AT TRI-WEST. Triton Central opened Hoosier Legends Conference play in strong fashion Friday night at Tri-West, sweeping the Bruins in both varsity and junior varsity boys basketball action. Varsity: Triton Central 65, Tri-West 51 The Tigers pulled away in the second half to earn a 65-51 varsity victory, improving to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Triton Central controlled the tempo early, taking a 12-7 lead after one quarter before Tri-West clawed back to make it a one-point game at halftime, 23-22. The Tigers responded with a strong third quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 20-16 to take a 43-38 advantage heading into the final period. Behind a balanced scoring effort and stifling defense, Triton Central closed the game with a decisive fourth quarter, extending the margin to double digits. Eli Sego led all scorers with 24 points. Brody Hartman added 13 points, while Jackson Faust chipped in 12 points and Henry Kemper finished with 10. Grant Long, Conner McClure and Brayden Hoover each added two points in the win. JV: Triton Central 56, Tri-West 48 (OT) The junior varsity game was a thriller, with Triton Central pulling away in overtime for a 56-48 victory. The Tigers jumped out to a 20-13 lead after one quarter, but Tri-West rallied to trail by just one at halftime, 27-26. The game remained tight through the third quarter, with Triton Central holding a slim 37-35 advantage. Regulation ended deadlocked at 46-46. In overtime, the Tigers took control on both ends of the floor, outscoring the Bruins 10-2 to secure the win. Landon Bailey led the JV Tigers with 21 points, while Owen Hornberger added 15. Dylan Showalter scored seven points, Dominic Moore had five, Jayden Abplanalp finished with four, and Conner Eubanks and Julius Schlottmann each added two. The JV Tigers also move to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in Hoosier Legends Conference play. Up Next Triton Central returns to action Friday night on the road at Christel House. The junior varsity game is scheduled for 6 PM, followed by the varsity contest at 7:30 PM.
