Valley Swimmers Break in New Pool with a NorthWood Dual

Valley Boys Swimmers and Divers defeat NorthWood! The Girls Swim Team lost to NorthWood 107-61 and the Boys Team defeated the Panthers by a score of 70-63. The Girls Team was led by Bailey Gaerte, who won diving. The 200 Medley Relay of Malia Kreft, Mya Drudge, Cassie Rich, and Claire Haney finished 3rd with a season best time. Bailey Anderson finished 2nd in the 50 and 100 free with two personal best times! Cassie Rich took second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 backstroke. Mya Drudge swam her first every 200 free and took second. Malia Kreft sprinted her way to a personal best times in the 50 free and 100 backstroke. The 200 Free Relay of Mya Drudge, Bailey Anderson, Maris Overby and Claire Haney raced to a second-place finish. Claire Haney also finished third place in the 50 and 100 free. Nadine Kessels, Kennedy Bruner, Autumn Parker, and Briley Lowe swam well in their first every 200 Free Relay. Sophia Becker swam a strong 100 backstroke and finished fourth. Makenna Lowe raced a total of 800 yards in the meet and finished 3rd in both 200 and 500 freestyle individual events. Proud of the team effort and willingness to improve! Nice job lady Vikings! On the boy’s side, Marcus Smith, Tucker Whetstone and Isaac Whetstone all won both their individual races and relays. Gavin Leininger finished second in diving. Aaden Bowers took first in the 50 free and second in the 100 breaststroke. In one of the more exciting races of the evening, Michael Leininger held off a late surge from a NorthWood swimmer to earn a second-place finish in the 50 free. Girls and Boys records are 1-1. Both teams will be back in the pool, Saturday, December 7th, at the Pilgrim Relays with the meet set to start at 9:00 am at the Susan Bardwell Aquatic Center.
