“The secret to getting ahead is getting started.” ― Mark Twain The TVXC Girls started the season at the Pickerington North XC Classic finishing 4th out of 16 teams in a competitive and deep field. The Vikings showed great excitement and got out to a quick start but settled in as the race continued. Running a familiar course and one they hope to have similar success on at the regional race on October 31, the girls showed determination and grit going through the woods and to the finish line. The girls were led by the senior trio of Reese Galinger (5th-19:08), Addie Keplar (16th-20:11), and Grace Thanasack (18th-20:13), who all placed in the top 20 of a race of 334 runners. Leaning into a new role, Khloe Maxwell (55th-22:00), finished 4th for the Vikings. Rounding out the top 5 was freshman Kyleigh Cradlebaugh (73rd-22:33), followed by the Charter sisters finishing 6th and 7th, with Julie (94th-22:55) and Lauren (95th-23:01). Finishing out the 1st 10 girls to cross the line for the Vikings was another trio of seniors, Iris Ardrey (133rd-23:59), Lila Merritt (210th-25:59), and Bailie Peters (258th-27:52). Overall, it was a solid start for the Vikings who learned about themselves and their competition. The most important part of the day was everyone got started. They put one foot in front of the other and went forward. To do so, may sound easy, but it's not as easy at it sounds. The girls got started, now their goal is to get ahead.
