Southwood XC Shows Grit and Growth

The Southwood Cross Country teams traveled to Maconaquah on Saturday to face a large and competitive field. The Lady Knights placed 6th out of 15 represented teams, showcasing consistency and growth across the lineup. Hailey Collins paced the team with a season-best 21:50.3, finishing 13th overall. Paige Nelson wasn’t far behind in 16th (22:01.1), while Andrea Widemon turned in a strong 19th-place finish in 22:44.5. Freshman standout Elin Tyson continued her breakout season, recording a personal-best 22:54.1 for 20th place. Olivia Ranck (71st, 28:38.6) and Grace Ranck (87th, 34:32.8) rounded out the varsity squad. On the boys’ side, Jericho Corn led the way, setting a personal best of 21:51.9 to place 80th in the field of 119 runners. Andrew Wright followed close behind in 86th with a time of 22:26.9, while Blake Henderson continued his steady improvement, lowering his best to 22:45.0 and placing 87th. The Knights now turn their attention to the West Noble Invitational next Saturday.
