Knight Harriers Compete in New Haven Invite

The Southwood Cross Country teams raced in the New Haven Invitational Saturday hosted by Huntington University. In the Girls Single A race, 24 schools were represented by competitors. The Boys Single A race fielded 26 schools. The Lady Knights finished 8th overall, with Paige Nelson and Hailey Collins leading the team effort. In a field of 106 runners, Paige finished 21st (22:21.9) with Hailey on her heels in 22nd position. Hailey set a new PR on the season of 22:24.4. Both girls earned Top 25 honors. Jaiya Corn (26:46.5) placed 66th. Makenna Hunter followed up last weeks effort with a new PR of 30:36.8, finishing 94th. Olivia Ranck rounded out the scoring for the team, finishing 97th. In the boys race, James Unger (17:55.6) led the way, placing 10th in a field of 182 runners. Luke Andrews chased down several competitors in the final 1000 meters, to finish 43rd in a time of 19:28.3. Andrew Wright (22:01.6) placed 121st. Freshman, Jericho Corn set a new PR of 23:37.4, breaking his previous time by 32 seconds. The Knight Harriers compete in the TRC at Manchester next Saturday. Let's Go Knights!
