The Southwood 7th-grade team played Whitko last night at home. The game proved to be a thrilling one despite Southwood being greatly outsized. Southwood took an early lead after a Bray Bassett three-pointer to end the first quarter with a score of 5-4. Bray Bassett added six more points in the second, and 2 steals from Karston Hayslett and Cade Pershing kept the Knights in the game. The score at the half was 11-12 in favor of Whitko. In the third, Grady Dillon, Dylan Hurst, and Karston Hayslett all add a score to give Southwood a 17-14 lead heading into the fourth. Southwood had the lead with a minute to go, but a late steal put the game out of reach as time expired. The final score was 27-24 in favor of Whitko. Bray Bassett led the Knights in scoring with 15 points. Dylan Hurst added 4 points and 4 rebounds. Karston Hayslett added 3 points, 2 steals, and 2 rebounds. Grady Dillon finished with 2 points and 3 rebounds for the Knights.
