What a season for these two Southwood Lady Knights! Qualifying for the IHSAA Regional is an accomplishment worth celebrating. As a non-class sport, meaning runners from schools of all sizes compete in the same postseason field rather than being separated by school classification, the Cross Country Regional Meet is even more of an accomplishment and challenge as our girls lined up against some of the top runners in the state. Ava Stouffer, Freshman, capped off an outstanding freshman season with a season PR of 19:44.40 at the Regional Cross Country Meet, finishing 44th in a highly competitive field of 242 runners. From opening her season at 21:28 to breaking the 20-minute barrier and earning runner-up honors at the Three Rivers Conference Championship, Ava has continued to grow, compete, and raise the bar. Her future is bright, and we are excited to see what lies ahead! Paige Nelson, Junior, also earned a place at the Regional meet. Even though she recorded her season-best time of 22:54.5 at TRC, she represented Southwood well through Sectionals and Saturday's Regional meet. Paige finished 202nd in a time of 22:59.72, her second best time of the season. Cross country is about more than a finish line. It is about showing up, pushing through challenges, trusting the work you have put in, and continuing to move forward. These two Knights have given us plenty to celebrate this season! TEAM SCORES: 1.
