7th/8th Grade vs Whitko The Southwood Knights 7th/8th grade football team battled Whitko Tuesday night before falling 26–12 in a physical contest. Weather played factor as turnovers effected both teams. Despite those challenges, the Knights’ defense created multiple opportunities, with Caleb Dale and Cale Enyeart forcing fumbles and Malachi Williams and Gunner Faust recording recoveries. Special teams also provided strong moments, with Braden Pence making several key plays covering squib kicks. Offensively, Gunner Faust and Cade Deaton each scored touchdowns for the Knights. Whitko’s big plays and several missed tackles ultimately proved costly, but Southwood coaches were encouraged by the team’s willingness to embrace different roles and continue competing. Remi Shenefield, Ryder Shenefield, Alex Pattee and Eli Dillon all made valuable contributions when called upon. While the Knights were disappointed with the result, the coaching staff emphasized that the bigger goal is developing young men who can handle adversity, take responsibility, support their teammates and continue working when things don’t go according to plan.
