Southwood Junior High football team turned in a strong all-around performance Tuesday night, rolling to a 38–7 victory over the Squires. The Knights received a balanced offensive effort, with Gunner Faust and Cale Enyeart each finding the end zone twice. Cade Deaton added a touchdown, while Hudson Whiteman converted 4 PAT attempts for eight points. Quarterback Nolan Achor helped Southwood close the first half in impressive fashion. With 1:40 remaining, Achor directed the offense down the field while managing the clock, leading the Knights to a Cade Deaton touchdown just before halftime. Southwood also made plays on defense and special teams. JJ Rose recovered a fumble, and Malachi Williams intercepted a pass. Charles Clingerman provided excellent field position with a strong kickoff return that set the Knights up at the Squires’ 2-yard line. The kickoff coverage unit also turned in a solid performance, consistently hustling downfield and helping keep the Squires pinned deep. Perhaps most encouraging was Southwood’s team-first approach. All 25 players contributed by executing assignments, making plays and staying ready when their opportunities came. Southwood 38, Squires 7.
