The Southwood girls cross country team continued to show progress Saturday, highlighted by another outstanding performance from freshman Ava Stouffer and a significant personal record from sophomore Grace Ranck. Stouffer once again led the Knights, finishing 1st overall in a field of 99 runners with an impressive time of 19:45.06. The freshman not only earned her first overall victory of the season, but also broke the 20-minute barrier for the first time. Her time was more than 31 seconds faster than her previous personal record of 20:16.1 set just one week earlier. Stouffer has steadily lowered her time throughout the season and continues to establish herself as an outstanding competitor for the Knights. Paige Nelson also turned in a strong performance, finishing 24th overall in 23:34.24 (Season Best), while Elliana Simpson placed 73rd in 29:27.93. Olivia Ranck finished 78th in 30:41.23. Another highlight came from Grace Ranck, who continued her improvement with a new personal record of 31:56.80. Grace dropped nearly 29 seconds from her previous best of 32:25.7, marking another encouraging step forward for the sophomore. The Knights continue to build momentum as the season progresses, with each race providing another opportunity to improve, compete, and keep moving forward.
