May 28, 2026 vs. Tri-Central Varsity Trojan's Southwood Varsity Knights defeated Tri-Central Varsity Trojan's 5-4 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run. Southwood Varsity Knights got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Makenzie Wilson doubled down the left field line, and Gracie Lambert tripled to center field, each scoring one run. Tri-Central Varsity Trojan's jumped into the lead in the top of the fifth when Tinsley Ormes doubled, scoring two runs, Bella Stewart singled, scoring one run, and Claire Conrad singled, scoring one run. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Southwood Varsity Knights went back into the lead after Wilson doubled to center field, and Tri-Central Varsity Trojan's committed an error, each scoring one run. Natalie Sutphin earned the win for Southwood Varsity Knights. The pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Ormes took the loss for Tri-Central Varsity Trojan's. The starter went six innings, surrendering five runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking four. Wilson started in the circle for Southwood Varsity Knights. The starter surrendered eight hits and four runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Wilson led Southwood Varsity Knights with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Stewart, Conrad, and Logan Creason each collected two hits for Tri-Central Varsity Trojan's. Ormes went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Tri-Central Varsity Trojan's turned one double play in the game. Southwood will play Wes-Del at Wes-Del Friday night at 5:30 for the sectional championship.
