Gracie Lambert’s Big Day Propels Southwood Varsity Knights Past Northfield

May 25, 2026 vs. Northfield Gracie Lambert drove in four runs on three hits to lead Southwood Varsity Knights past Northfield 12-0 on Monday at Wes-Del High School. Lambert singled in the third inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two. Southwood Varsity Knights won thanks in part to nine runs in the fourth inning. Nika Tyson drew a walk, scoring one run, Hayven Schipper singled, scoring one run, Gemma Haupert induced Morgan Bowman to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Lambert singled, scoring two runs, Izzy Ashba doubled, scoring one run, Natalie Sutphin singled, scoring one run, and Alivia Pershing singled, scoring two runs. Southwood Varsity Knights were the first to get on the board in the first when Ashba singled, scoring one run. Southwood Varsity Knights added two runs in the third. Lambert singled to center field, making the score 3-0. Sutphin earned the win for Southwood Varsity Knights. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Haupert took the loss for Northfield. The starter went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering 12 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits, striking out three and walking two. Southwood Varsity Knights piled up 11 hits in the game. Ashba, Sutphin, and Pershing each collected multiple hits for Southwood Varsity Knights. Southwood Varsity Knights were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Pershing had the most chances in the field with seven. Tenley Kuhn and Haupert each collected one hit for Northfield. Southwood's next game will be round 2 of sectionals at Wes-Del on Wednesday night at 5:30 against Tri-Central.
