Southwood Varsity Knights With Tough Game Against Wabash Varsity Apaches

Southwood Varsity Knights had trouble keeping up with Wabash Varsity Apaches in a 14-2 loss on Wednesday. Wabash Varsity Apaches jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Sam Harris doubled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs. Wabash Varsity Apaches scored seven runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Haiden McWhirt homered to left field, scoring two runs, Jake Sailors hit a grand slam to right field, and McWhirt singled, scoring one run. Ivan Ranck hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third for the Southwood Varsity Knights. Owen Davis stepped on the hill first for Southwood Varsity Knights. The righty allowed two hits and five runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking three. Mackey Sorg opened the game for Wabash Varsity Apaches. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Ranck and Eli Shelhamer each collected one hit for Southwood Varsity Knights. Ranck and Shelhamer each drove in one run for Southwood Varsity Knights. Southwood Varsity Knights turned two double plays in the game. Wabash Varsity Apaches piled up 10 hits in the game. McWhirt and Harris were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Wabash Varsity Apaches. Sailors led Wabash Varsity Apaches with four runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The center fielder went 1-for-1 on the day. Wabash Varsity Apaches had patience at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Cooper Long and Sailors led the team with two free passes each. Next up for Southwood Varsity Knights is a game at Manchester Squires Baseball on Thursday.
