May 16, 2026 vs. Oak Hill Ashba drove in four runs on three hits to lead Southwood Varsity Knights past Oak Hill 11-10 on Saturday. Ashba hit a home run to center field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring one. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Southwood Varsity Knights collected 16 hits and Oak Hill 17 in the high-scoring affair. Oak Hill opened the scoring in the first after Cardona laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run. Oak Hill scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Peterson doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Hawkins doubled, scoring two runs, and Emery homered to center field, scoring two runs. Ashba homered to center field, scoring three runs in the top of the third for the Southwood Varsity Knights. Southwood Varsity Knights flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 8-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Lambert that drove in two. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Oak Hill went back into the lead after Larimore grounded into a fielder's choice, Hawkins singled to center field, and Emery singled to center field, each scoring one run. Southwood Varsity Knights made the score 11-10 in the top of the sixth after Pershing singled, scoring one run, and Haecker homered to center field, scoring two runs. Wilson earned the win for Southwood Varsity Knights. The pitcher allowed nine hits and three runs over five innings, striking out none and walking one. Weller took the loss for Oak Hill. The hurler went four innings, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits, striking out two and walking none. Sutphin began the game for Southwood Varsity Knights. The pitcher gave up eight hits and seven runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Speicher started the game for Oak Hill. The starter gave up six hits and three runs over three innings, striking out three and walking three. Southwood Varsity Knights collected 16 hits in the game. Bowman, Lambert, Ashba, and Sutphin each collected three hits for Southwood Varsity Knights. Oak Hill piled up 17 hits in the game. Emery, Myers, and Hawkins each collected four hits for Oak Hill. Emery and Hawkins were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for Oak Hill. Peterson collected three hits for Oak Hill in four at bats. Oak Hill were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Hawkins made the most plays with seven. Southwood Varsity Knights will travel to Manchester for their next game on Monday.
