Southwood Varsity Knights Defeats Maconaquah On Back Of Clutch Display From Sutphin May 11, 2026 vs. Maconaquah Sutphin drove in five runs on two hits to lead Southwood Varsity Knights past Maconaquah 12-2 on Monday. Sutphin doubled in the fourth scoring three, singled in the second scoring one, and hit a sacrifice fly in the third scoring one. Maconaquah were the first to get on the board in the first when Scarlett hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Sutphin singled to right field, which helped Southwood Varsity Knights tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. Southwood Varsity Knights jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Ashba walked, and Sutphin hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Southwood Varsity Knights scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Pershing doubled, scoring one run, Schipper singled, scoring one run, and Sutphin doubled, scoring three runs. Haecker earned the win for Southwood Varsity Knights. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking two. Murry took the loss for Maconaquah. The starting pitcher went five and one-third innings, surrendering 12 runs on 12 hits, striking out two and walking five. Wilson appeared in relief for Southwood Varsity Knights. Southwood Varsity Knights tallied 12 hits in the game. Schipper led Southwood Varsity Knights with three hits in four at bats. Tyson collected two hits for Southwood Varsity Knights in four at bats.
