Big Second Inning Leads Lewis Cass Past Southwood Varsity Knights

Lewis Cass defeated Southwood Varsity Knights 10-0 on Wednesday thanks in part to seven runs in the second inning. Lewis Cass jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the second inning after #32 drew a walk, scoring one run, #35 hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, #8 homered to left field, scoring two runs, #12 doubled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs. Lewis Cass extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by #24 and #50. #6 earned the win for Lewis Cass. The starter gave up three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Schnepp took the loss for Southwood Varsity Knights. The pitcher went two innings, giving up eight runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking three. Dillon, Davis, and Sturgill each collected one hit for Southwood Varsity Knights. Lewis Cass piled up nine hits in the game. #50 led Lewis Cass with three hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. #12 and #8 each drove in two runs for Lewis Cass. Lewis Cass turned one double play in the game. Lewis Cass were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. #8 had the most chances in the field with eight. Next up for Southwood Varsity Knights is a game against Blackford on Friday.
