Height Has Lots Of Hits But Southwood Varsity Knights Fall To Whitko Varsity Wildcats

Height collected four hits in five at bats, but Southwood Varsity Knights lost to Whitko Varsity Wildcats 15-10 on Monday. Height doubled in the seventh inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and doubled in the fourth inning. Despite the loss, Southwood Varsity Knights did collect 10 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Whitko Varsity Wildcats had 11 hits on the way to victory. Whitko Varsity Wildcats got on the board in the top of the first inning after Long singled, scoring two runs, and Shepherd drew a walk, scoring one run. Southwood Varsity Knights tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Height, and a double by Davis. Southwood Varsity Knights took the lead in the bottom of the second. Height singled, scoring one run, to give Southwood Varsity Knights the upper hand, 4-3. Whitko Varsity Wildcats took the lead in the top of the third. Ebbinghouse doubled, scoring two runs, to give Whitko Varsity Wildcats the leg up, 5-4. Ranck hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Southwood Varsity Knights tie the game at five in the bottom of the third. A double by Hersha gave Whitko Varsity Wildcats the lead, 6-5, in the top of the fourth. Sturgill doubled to center field, which helped Southwood Varsity Knights tie the game at six in the bottom of the fourth. Whitko Varsity Wildcats took the lead in the top of the fifth. Cox singled, scoring one run, to give Whitko Varsity Wildcats the lead, 7-6. Whitko Varsity Wildcats scored six runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning. Day drew a walk, scoring one run, Shepherd drew a walk, scoring one run, Ebbinghouse was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Cox hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Laukhuf singled, scoring two runs. Day homered to left field, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh for the Whitko Varsity Wildcats. Day earned the win for Whitko Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher surrendered three hits and five runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking three. Hawkins took the loss for Southwood Varsity Knights. The pitcher went two innings, surrendering eight runs on five hits, striking out two and walking six. Davis opened the game for Southwood Varsity Knights. The starter surrendered six hits and seven runs (six earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking six. Shepherd stepped on the hill first for Whitko Varsity Wildcats. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and four runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out five and walking two. Southwood Varsity Knights amassed 10 hits in the game. Sturgill and Height each drove in three runs for Southwood Varsity Knights. Schnepp collected two hits for Southwood Varsity Knights in three at bats. Holloway and Gidley each stole multiple bases for Southwood Varsity Knights. Southwood Varsity Knights stole seven bases in the game. Whitko Varsity Wildcats piled up 11 hits in the game. Long went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Whitko Varsity Wildcats in hits. Ebbinghouse and Day each drove in three runs for Whitko Varsity Wildcats. Skinner and Hersha each collected multiple hits for Whitko Varsity Wildcats. Whitko Varsity Wildcats had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 12 walks for the game. Ebbinghouse, Day, Miller, Shepherd, and Hersha led the team with two free passes each. Hersha stole two bases.
