Southwood Varsity Knights Roll Past Peru 11-1 Varsity vs Peru (11 - 1) Win Southwood Knights won big over Peru 11-1 on Monday. Southwood got on the board in the top of the first inning after Lambert tripled to center field, and Ashba hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Steele hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the fifth for Peru. The Knights scored five runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning. Wilson singled to score one run, Bowman drew a walk, scoring one run, Schipper singled, scoring two runs, and Lambert grounded out, scoring one run. Sutphin earned the win for Southwood. The starter allowed eight hits and one run over five innings, striking out one and walking none. Kintner took the loss for Peru. The pitcher went five and one-third innings, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits, striking out five and walking one. Wilson pitched two innings of no-run ball for Southwood in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking none. Southwood piled up 10 hits in the game. Schipper led the Knights with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 1-for-4 on the day. Sutphin went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Southwood in hits. Southwood turned one double play in the game. Lily Steele went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Pheobe Steele went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Peru in hits. Southwood will travel to Northwestern for their next game on Wednesday.
