Southwood Varsity Knights Firing On All Cylinders Against Taylor Varsity vs Taylor High School (14 - 1) Win Southwood Varsity Knights easily dispatched Taylor on Thursday, 14-1. Southwood jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Ashba grounded out, scoring one run, Wilson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Haecker singled, scoring two runs. Southwood added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Wilson walked, Taylor committed an error, and Southwood scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Haecker earned the win for the Knights. The starter allowed one hit and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking two. Canela took the loss for Taylor. The pitcher went one-third of an inning, allowing four runs on zero hits, striking out none and walking three. Wilson pitched one inning of scoreless ball for Southwood in relief. The lefty gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking none. Haecker led Southwood Varsity Knights with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Lambert, Ashba, Haecker, and Wilson each collected one hit for Southwood Varsity Knights. Southwood had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 13 walks for the game. Wilson and Wilson led the team with two free passes each. Schipper stole two bases. Southwood ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game. Southwood were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Kroft made the most plays with 10. Mottweiler went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Next up for Southwood is a game against Bluffton on Monday.
