Game Goes Down To The Wire As Southwood Junior Varsity Knights Loses To Eastern On Final Play

A walk-off left Southwood Junior Varsity Knights on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat to Eastern on Saturday. Eastern were down 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when an error scored two runs. The pitching was strong on both sides. Eastern pitchers struck out two, while Southwood Junior Varsity Knights sat down seven. Southwood Junior Varsity Knights got on the board in the first inning after Bowman scored after tagging up. Forman singled down the right field line, which helped Eastern tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. A single by Tyson gave Southwood Junior Varsity Knights the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fourth. Ramer earned the win for Eastern. The starter allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking none. Wilson took the loss for Southwood Junior Varsity Knights. The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering three runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out seven and walking one. Tyson, Bowman, Pershing, and Ramos each collected one hit for Southwood Junior Varsity Knights. Tyson and Lovatto each drove in one run for Southwood Junior Varsity Knights. Oman drove the middle of the lineup, leading Eastern with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Ramer, Downing, Voorhis, Oman, Brock, and Forman each collected one hit for Eastern. Eastern turned one double play in the game.
