Southwood Varsity Knights Claims Win In Thrilling Showdown Against Wabash April 8, 2026 vs. Wabash Southwood Varsity Knights defeated Wabash 2-1 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one in the top of the sixth when Pershing drew a walk, scoring one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. Southwood Varsity Knights pitchers struck out two, while Wabash sat down four. Wabash opened the scoring in the first after Davis singled, scoring one run. Southwood Varsity Knights jumped back into the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Ashba hit an inside the park home run, and Pershing walked, each scoring one run. Sutphin earned the win for Southwood Varsity Knights. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and one run over five innings, striking out two and walking one. Davis took the loss for Wabash. The pitcher went seven innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on eight hits, striking out four and walking four. Wilson collected the save. Bowman and Schipper each collected two hits for Southwood Varsity Knights. Ashba led Southwood Varsity Knights with one run batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Southwood Varsity Knights turned two double plays in the game. Southwood Varsity Knights were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Pershing had the most chances in the field with 12. Davis and Hall were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Wabash while hitting back-to-back. Davis went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Next up for Southwood Varsity Knights is a game at Eastern on Saturday.
