The Spring Lake Lakers defeated the OK Black leading Unity Christian Crusaders 2-0 in game one of the teams doubleheader. Spring Lake pitcher Maddux Kipling was dominant in his complete game shutout. Kipling allowed 4 hits, while striking out 10 and walking none. In the first inning the Lakers got on the scoreboard when Oliver Smies singled and came around on twin brother Owen Smies RBI single. The Lakers added an insurance run in the 4th inning when Owen Smies singled and courtesy runner Mason Roll stole second and scored on Reid Grimmer's single. The Smies brothers had two hits apiece.
