The Duel in the Pool. #1 Spring Lake vs. #2 Holland Christian was a great battle between two top swim programs. In the end, the Spring Lake Lakers came out on Top 97-88. Tonight’s victory was a total TEAM Win! On a night when we celebrated five amazing seniors, it was beyond words to secure the Huge Win for the Seniors and the program. It is the first time in the SL Swim Program’s 50 Year History that Spring Lake has been ranked #1 in Division 3. With this win, the Lakers remain undefeated 2-0 in the OK Lakeshore and 8-0 Overall. Tonight, to see the Lakers step it up a notch and battle it out in every race. It was great to see everyone contribute to the win in so many ways. It was great to see some teammates return from injury or illness, and to see strong swims from them. Not only did the Lakers win, but they also swam to 25 Personal-Record Swims and three New State-Cut Times. We, the coaching staff, are very happy and proud of these student-athletes and their performance tonight, especially as the swim meet was close. They maintained a positive energy throughout the meeting. They had each other’s backs and defended their home pool! Lakers showed they belong among the Top D3 Swim Programs! Huge thank you to our great coaches, Brian Porter, Sarah Colvin, and Jack Mendoza, for preparing the Team every day to compete in the pool! We could do without you!! Senior Alex Strauss won the 100 Breast with a time of 1:03.92. The Lakers' 200 Free Relay of Kevin Dahl, Alex Strauss, Wesley Mazurek, and Russell Cherney, 1:31.85, and the 400 Free Relay of Pat Goran, Wesley Mazurek, Arthur Fletcher, and Dane Trask, 3:31.87, both took first place.
