Scottsburg Triumphant over Madison

The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Scottsburg Warriors (Scottsburg, IN) and the visiting Madison Cubs (Madison, IN), witnessed Scottsburg's football squad wallop Madison by a tally of 42-0. The Warriors were powered by a balanced offensive attack led by quarterback Nathan Byrd, who went 15-of-23 through the air for 223 yards and three touchdowns. Landon Shuck added strength on the ground, rushing 13 times for 77 yards and a score. Luke Hamilton turned in a versatile performance, racking up 133 all-purpose yards and hauling in a touchdown reception. Matthew Wickey provided a reliable target with five catches for 83 yards, including a 32-yard grab. On the defensive side, Garrett Boling made a major impact—scoring on a fumble recovery, catching a touchdown pass, and leading the team with 11 tackles (seven solo), including two for loss. The Warriors (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against North Harrison (Ramsey, IN). The Cougars enter the Mid-Southern contest with a 1-0 record. In their last contest, North Harrison crushed Salem (Salem, IN), 27-15, in a league bout. The Cubs now own a 0-1 record. They play next when they travel to South Dearborn for a non-league bout on Friday, August 29. Madison will encounter a Knights team coming off a 27-6 non-league win over Jennings County (North Vernon, IN). The Knights record now stands at 1-0.
