Scottsburg Cross Country Teams Compete at Darrell Kingery Hokum Karem The Scottsburg boys and girls cross country teams competed Tuesday evening in the Darrell Kingery Hokum Karem at Silver Creek. Unlike a traditional cross country meet, the Hokum Karem pairs two runners together, with each athlete alternating one-mile loops to complete a combined six-mile race. The Warriors finished seventh among 10 scoring teams with 61 points. Scottsburg’s top tandem of Kameron Reed and Gavin Curley delivered an impressive performance, placing eighth overall in 34:18. Reed and Curley averaged a 5:43 pace across the six-mile race. Jaxon Sayers and Caleb Cox placed 22nd with a time of 39:16, while Will Reece and Eli Combs completed the Warriors’ scoring in 36th place at 44:21. Silver Creek won the boys team championship with eight points, followed by Corydon Central with 19 and Charlestown with 37. The Warriorettes placed ninth in the girls team standings with 79 points. Sofie Riley and Presley Buckel led Scottsburg by finishing 32nd overall in 48:01, averaging an 8:00 pace. Noel Huynh and Caitlyn Bailey finished 37th in 50:23, just ahead of teammates Georgia McNeeley and Addison Eldridge, who placed 38th in 50:28. Providence Vaughn and Geneva Bennett added a 47th-place finish with a time of 56:43. Addison Elliott and Hayden Worley also completed the six-mile relay for Scottsburg in 1:00:03. Floyd Central captured the girls team title with nine points. Silver Creek finished second with 26 points, while Southwestern (Hanover) placed third with 30.
