The Scottsburg Warriorette tennis team added another chapter to program history on Friday, defeating Southwestern (Hanover) 3-2 to claim the 2025-26 IHSAA Sectional Championship at Scottsburg High School. With the victory, the Warriorettes secured the program’s ninth sectional title and first since the 2017-18 season. Scottsburg got key singles victories from Olivia Spellman and Rylee Age. Spellman earned a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Emma Hatton, while Age cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Olivia Johnson at No. 3 singles. The final point came in doubles play, where the No. 2 doubles team of Lillie Broady and Molly Gregg delivered a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win over Shaylee Cosby and Adalei Watson. Southwestern claimed wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, but Scottsburg’s depth proved to be the difference as the Warriorettes captured the team victory. Scottsburg now advances to regional play and will face the winner of the Columbus North Sectional on Tuesday, May 26, at Bedford North Lawrence High School.
