Scottsburg Girls Turn in Strong Showing at Daniel Faulkner Relays

The Scottsburg Warriorettes put together a competitive night Thursday at the Daniel Faulkner Relays hosted by Clarksville High School, finishing sixth overall in a talented 12-team field with 33 points. Charlestown claimed the team title with 85 points, followed closely by Providence and Silver Creek. Scottsburg was led by an outstanding performance in the hurdles from senior Taylor Busick. Busick captured the championship in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a winning time of 16.95 seconds, giving the Warriorettes one of the evening’s biggest individual victories. Teammate Kylee Miles added to the strong showing by placing third in the same event in 18.18. The Warriorettes also dominated the pole vault competition. Freshman Anissah Payne-Eldridge cleared 9 feet to earn first place, while Addison Eldridge finished runner-up at 8-6, giving Scottsburg a huge point boost in the field events. Sofie Riley had a productive night across multiple events for Scottsburg. Riley tied for fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.76 seconds, placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 14-2.5, and added a 10th-place finish in the 1600-meter run at 6:33.72. Anissah Payne-Eldridge also contributed in the sprints, finishing 10th in the 100-meter dash in 14.09 seconds. In relay competition, Scottsburg narrowly missed a top-five finish in the 4x100 relay, placing sixth in 55.28 seconds. The Warriorettes also took ninth in the sprint medley relay with a time of 2:11.70. The throws added valuable points as well. Brynley Culley finished ninth in discus with a toss of 67-9 and later added a 10th-place finish in shot put at 24-1. Kyndall Dickerson placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 25-1. With multiple event victories and strong contributions from both experienced athletes and underclassmen, Scottsburg showed encouraging depth and balance throughout the evening as the postseason approaches.
