Scottsburg Track Teams Compete Strongly at Warpath Invitational

The Scottsburg High School track and field teams turned in a competitive showing Tuesday night at the Warpath Invitational hosted by Borden High School, with the Warriorettes finishing runner-up and the boys placing third overall. Girls Team Highlights Scottsburg’s girls squad delivered an impressive performance, scoring 49 points to finish second behind Brownstown Central (71), while host Borden placed third with 45. The Warriorettes were led by several standout individual efforts. Freshman Anissah Payne-Eldridge captured the 100-meter dash title in 13.50 seconds, edging a strong field and setting the tone early for Scottsburg. In the hurdles, Scottsburg dominated. Senior Taylor Busick won the 100-meter hurdles (17.20), while freshman Kylee Miles followed closely in second (18.00). Miles later added another victory in the 300-meter hurdles (53.20), with teammate Sofie Riley finishing second to give Scottsburg a 1-2 sweep. Busick also shined in the field events, winning the long jump with a mark of 15-7.75 and placing third in the high jump. Scottsburg showed strength in the pole vault as well, sweeping the top two spots with Payne-Eldridge and Addison Eldridge both clearing 9 feet and setting a new school record! Additional key contributions came from Sofie Riley (3rd in the 100), Kyndall Dickerson (3rd in the 400), and solid relay performances, including a second-place finish in the 4x100 relay. Boys Team Highlights On the boys side, Scottsburg finished third with 26 points behind Brownstown Central (97) and Borden (43). The Warriors were competitive across multiple events, highlighted by strong relay performances. Scottsburg placed second in the 4x100 (48.20), 4x400 (3:52.90), and 4x800 (9:31.40) relays, consistently scoring valuable team points. Individually, Aiden Cornelius placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.90) and added a fourth-place finish in the high jump. Max Spellman led Scottsburg in the 200-meter dash with a third-place finish (25.30). In the distance events, Kameron Reed delivered a strong second-place finish in the 3200-meter run (11:44.90), while Gavin Curley placed fourth in the 800-meter run. The field events saw Clyde Cooper finish fifth in the discus and seventh in the shot put, contributing additional points for the Warriors. Looking Ahead Both Scottsburg teams showed depth and competitiveness throughout the meet, with the girls turning in a particularly strong runner-up finish fueled by multiple event victories. Scottsburg will look to build on these performances as the season continues and competition intensifies.
