In the annual Cheatham Classic at Charles E. Meyer Gymnasium, the Scottsburg Warriorettes battled hard but came up short against the Seymour Lady Owls on Tuesday afternoon, falling 63–44 in a spirited tournament matchup. The Lady Owls jumped out early and maintained control throughout the contest. Seymour built a strong first quarter, outscoring Scottsburg 18–9, then extended the lead to 35–13 by halftime. The Owls continued to pressure on both ends, ultimately securing a 19-point victory. Seymour’s balanced attack was led by Emmy Munson, who poured in 20 points on efficient shooting, converting inside and from deep. Claire Skaggs added 12 points, and Abby Otte chipped in 10 to help fuel the Owls’ offensive output. Seymour finished the game shooting over 40% from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers as a team. Scottsburg faced an uphill battle offensively all afternoon. While senior guard KK Grogan led the Warriorettes with 13 points, and Addison Eldridge scored 12, Scottsburg struggled to find consistent scoring as a unit. The Warriorettes were held to 32.7% shooting from the field and only 15.4% from beyond the arc. Despite the loss, the Warriorettes showed moments of fight — especially in the second half — but couldn’t overcome the early deficit. Rebounding and ball movement were areas the team will look to improve as league play resumes in January. Fans showed strong support for Scottsburg throughout the holiday tournament, which featured eight competitive teams from around southern Indiana and has become a beloved tradition for the Warriorettes’ program.
