The Scottsburg Warriorettes couldn’t keep early momentum Friday night, falling to visiting Brownstown Central 52–24 on Nov. 28. Scottsburg came out sharp in the opening quarter, playing with energy on both ends and edging the Lady Braves 13–12 after one. The Warriorettes attacked the glass and forced Brownstown into a tight first eight minutes, but the game swung hard in the second period. Brownstown’s pressure defense created turnovers and quick transition chances, and the Lady Braves put together an 18–1 run in the quarter to take control going into halftime. The Lady Braves continued to build separation after the break, outscoring Scottsburg 16–2 in the third. Scottsburg kept battling, and the fourth quarter was more even (Brownstown 6, Scottsburg 8), but the deficit was too large to overcome. KK Grogan led the Warriorettes with 13 points and nine rebounds, going 4-of-9 from the field and 5-of-6 at the line. Arya Stillions added four points and three rebounds, while Georgia McNeely chipped in four points. Addison Eldridge scored three points, knocking down a three-pointer, and also grabbed a rebound. As a team, Scottsburg shot 9-of-33 from the floor and 1-of-10 from three-point range. The Warriorettes finished with 20 total rebounds and two assists, but Brownstown’s defensive pressure helped force 18 Scottsburg turnovers that turned into scoring opportunities the other way. Brownstown was paced by Harley Toppe, who finished with 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including five three-pointers. Claire Brock added 12 points and eight rebounds as the Lady Braves pulled away after the first quarter. Scottsburg will look to regroup and build on the strong first-quarter play as the Warriorettes head into their next contest.
