Saginaw United Sophomores Iggy Delgado and Dakari Sims were honored at the Saginaw Valley League South Coaches All-Conference meeting Tuesday afternoon in Flint. The pitcher and catcher combo received Honorable Mention All SVL recognition for the 2026 Season. “What a great honor for both guys,” United Head Coach Nate Volk said. “I have said throughout the season, I see both as cornerstones for where we will be working to take our program. Our league is second to none in all sports and you could make a case it is the best baseball conference in the State. I was excited to have them discussed at the meeting by all those super coaches.” Later in the evening, the United baseball program celebrated the 2026 team with a cookout and awards night at Hoyt Park. “We had a great turnout and this time of year, with how we haven’t put up a great record, I couldn’t be more proud of the guys,” Volk said. “They have operated through many trying circumstances without making excuses or complaining. I sincerely admire all of them. Appreciate the Athletic Department for working hard and supporting us in making this night possible too. Our players and our terrific assistant coaches deserved recognition.” Both the Varsity and Junior Varsity head to Heritage today at 4 pm doubleheaders. The Varsity then visits Bridgeport for a single game on Thursday for the Bearcats’ Senior Night. First pitch will also be at 4 pm.
