United Falls Short Under the Lights Babers, Baker Shine in 19–13 Flag Football Loss to Flint New Standard Under the lights at Lapeer High School Football Field, Saginaw United High School battled through a hard-fought flag football matchup against Flint New Standard Academy, ultimately falling 19–13 in a game that came down to the final two minutes of play. Saginaw United showed resilience and explosiveness throughout the contest, highlighted by standout performances on both sides of the ball. Leading the offensive charge was Amariay Babers, who broke loose for two long touchdown runs, showcasing speed and determination while keeping Saginaw United within striking distance all game long. Defensively, Demya Baker delivered one of the game’s most exciting moments. On a one-point conversion attempt by Flint New Standard Academy, Baker stepped in front of the pass, secured the interception, and returned it all the way back for a score—swinging momentum and energizing the sideline. Despite the late push and strong individual efforts, Saginaw United came up just short in the closing moments. The team’s fight, big-play ability, and defensive grit were evident, proving they can compete at a high level in tightly contested games.
